Self-Destructive Behavior in Teens

Have you ever thought about how many teens go through situations in their life's and never have a conclusion for it, except to hurt them? Every day there are teens that harm themselves in a variety of ways. There are different ways for teens to be self-destructive.
There are many different types of ways that teens may harm themselves, which are also ways that they may kill themselves if they aren't too careful about it. The definition of self-destructive behavior is injuring yourself physically and mentally, causes tissue damage or leaves marks for mare than a few minutes. This is doing to cope with an overwhelming or distressing situation. Others may think of it as just putting things on your body such as piercing or tattoos, but it is much more than that. Many different types as cutting, branding, or picking at the skin, or even hair pulling may cause much more damage than you would ever accept. An example of self-destructive behavior is getting a razor blade and going into your bathroom and cutting into your wrist to harm and watch yourself slowly die.
Each and every day many teens think about or are being self-destructive with their behavior. So why are teens participating in self-destructive behavior? Well there are many answers but here are a few of the main ones. One is that the cause of most teens is a lack of having learned how to express difficult feelings in a much healthier way. It can be caused by the parents not give teen enough attention, so cutting her/himself will get their parents attention much more quickly. Another example of why teens are self-destructive is that it is said that they feel relieved and less anxious after they harm themselves. The emotional pain is slowly slipped away and forgotten about, then it starts over each time something happens and they feel depressed again. Being depressed and lack of attention for the parents is the main reason why I would say tens have self-destructive behavior.
Why is self-destruction more predominant today then when our parents and grandparents were teens. My opinion on why it is more predominant today is that when our parents were teens, there were many more chores to be done by them. Parents were always on their kids about everything so they never really had a chance to be by themselves. They probably talked out thins with their family more, instead of trying to take care of it by themselves. Parents had more control over their children then, then they do now to be honest. Also insurance companies shouldn't allow tit toe be a parent of their insurance.
What can be done to help teens who participate in self-destructive behavior as a school, community, and as an individual:
*As a school students should be able to work, talk, and trust each other, but most importantly teachers. Having dividing assemblies with all boys and girls at different locations would work. Having some people come in that used to be victims of self-destructiveness and talk to the teens would also be a great thing for a school to do.
*As a community, we should all work together, and try out best to watch out for each other. Be there when one needs to talk to another. So putting up a huge billboard sign with a number for people to call and get help, and not just for teens, but also adults. Showing other that there are people who care about them.
*As an individual of self-destructive behavior we should be able to trust each other. We just don't know whom to trust or whom we can't. going to somebody and confessing that you have a problem then getting help form much more. Talking to somebody who understands what you're going through will also help a lot.
In conclusion self-destructiveness isn't always the teens' fault. It is adults and even other students, but yes it does include the individual a lot also. With the right amount of love and care, there will be fewer teens in the world having a self-destructive behavior problem.
